Starting NJROTC can come with a lot of new information—for cadets and their families. The Booster Club is here to help parents and guardians stay connected, get involved, and support their cadets throughout the year.
This page is a starting point for families who are new to the LCHS NJROTC program. You’ll find information about communication, activities, volunteering, Booster Club events, and where to go when you have questions.
GroupMe is our primary parent communication space for quick questions, reminders, and updates.
Check the calendar regularly for practices, competitions, fundraisers, Booster meetings, and other program events.
There are many ways for families to support the program—from volunteering at events to helping with fundraisers and activities.
NS refers to a cadet’s year in Naval Science. NS1 cadets are in their first year of NJROTC, NS2 in their second year, and so on through NS4. You’ll often see these terms used in Booster Club communications and event information.
Cadets will have opportunities to participate in competitive and extracurricular teams, including Drill, Color Guard, Orienteering, PT, SeaPerch, Drone, and Academic. Team participation and schedules are managed by NJROTC staff.
Cadets may travel for competitions, training opportunities, educational trips, and other NJROTC activities throughout the year, and details/eligibility are determined by instructors. The Booster Club often supports these opportunities through fundraising, volunteer support, meals, transportation support, etc., as applicable.
The Booster Club is a parent-led organization that supports the program through fundraising, volunteers, communication, events, and other resources, while NJROTC instructors retain responsibility for cadet training, academics, teams, participation requirements, and program decisions.
